Our Annual Christmas Social was a time to celebrate and an opportunity to reflect on the year’s progress and the strong bonds we’ve built within the club. As we gathered to toast the season, we also took a moment to acknowledge the collective effort and collaboration that has driven our success so far. But it wasn’t all about reflection—we also saw this social as the perfect opportunity to amplify our PR and connect with a wider audience. Our members embraced the fun side of the season, jumping into popular TikTok trends that showcased the energy and enthusiasm of our club. From lighthearted dances to creative challenges, our TikTok moments not only brought the team closer together but also gave us a chance to highlight our work and fellowship in a way that’s both relatable and engaging to a younger audience.

This year’s social also doubled as a pinning ceremony for 11 new members, officially welcoming them into the Rotaract family. The day was made even more special with the presence of our Rotarians, who joined in the festivities and supported our efforts. By blending service, celebration, and social media, we’ve continued to increase our visibility and show the world the positive impact we’re making in our community.

RCGC is home to quite a few millennials so our CLS Committee took us to a trip down memory lane with the Flashback: Games Edition event! Attendees embraced the spirit of nostalgia, showing up in school uniforms and sporting nostalgic accessories, all while reliving childhood memories through classic games.

The event was a collaboration with Finance Committee and funds were raised through the sale of delicious treats from childhood memories - from BBQ, fried rice, and icicles (infused to adult standards) to refreshing lemonade, chicken foot, mango syrup, tamarind balls, and more. It was a true celebration of community, fellowship, and good vibes!

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Guyana Police Force and Commissioner Hickens for allowing us to host the event at the Eve Leary compound, and to Guyana Beverages Inc. for their generous donation, which contributed to making this event a huge success!

The Club Service activities included a bonfire, forest hike, creek relaxation time, storytelling, singing, and games. These fellowship events strengthen bonds among members and promoted teamwork, creating a relaxed atmosphere aimed at fostering camaraderie and ultimately enhancing collaboration and unity within the club.

In an effort to align with our year's targets and to celebrate Rotary's Membership Month, the committee embarked on an ad-hoc initiative that was both purposeful and fun! Kicking off the first of several membership drives, we set up shop at Curl Fete 2024—an annual Natural Hair and Beauty Expo in Guyana that vibrantly celebrates beauty, culture, and identity.

Our members eagerly mingled with the crowd, sharing the heart of our club’s mission and projects while engaging attendees in exciting Q&A sessions with prizes up for grabs! Meanwhile, the Finance Committee made sure to place one of their beloved Hope Chest donation boxes front and center, welcoming generous contributions to help fuel our upcoming service projects.
