CLUB GOVERNANCE
Club Governance refers to the structures, policies, and processes that ensure the effective and ethical management of a Rotaract club. Good governance is essential for the club's sustainability, transparency, and alignment with Rotary International's principles. It provides a framework within which the club can operate smoothly, achieve its goals, and maintain accountability to its members and the broader community.
Governance in RCGC is grounded in the club’s constitution and bylaws. Having well-defined rules helps prevent and resolve conflicts within the club by providing a reference point for acceptable behavior and procedures.
Constitution
The Club's Constitution is a formal document that establishes the foundational principles and objectives of the club. It serves as the governing document that all members agree to uphold.
The constitution outlines the club’s purpose, its relationship with Rotary International, and its fundamental governance structure. It defines the club’s mission, membership categories, and the roles and responsibilities of its officers.
Our club's existing Constitution is currently under review to align with the new RI guidelines.
Bylaws
The Bylaws are the detailed rules that govern the internal affairs of the club. They are tailored to the specific needs of each Rotaract club but must align with Rotary International’s standard policies.
Bylaws cover a wide range of topics, including membership requirements, duties of officers, meeting schedules, election procedures, and financial management. They provide a clear roadmap for the club's operations and help resolve disputes by offering a set of agreed-upon guidelines.
Bylaws can be amended as the club evolves, ensuring they remain relevant and effective. Typically, amendments require a vote from the general membership, following the procedures outlined in the bylaws themselves.
Our club's existing bylaws are currently under review to align with the new RI guidelines.
Board of Directors
RCGC is led by a Board of Directors which includes President, Vice President, Immediate Past President, President-Elect, Secretary, Treasurer, Assistant Secretary-Treasurer and various Committee Directors focused on a specific area (Community Service, International Service, Professional Development, Club Service).
These leaders are responsible for guiding the club's activities, managing resources, and representing the club both internally and externally.
The Constitution and the Bylaws provide clear guidelines for how the Board and membership should operate, reducing ambiguity and ensuring consistent practices. These governing documents hold club leaders and members accountable to the standards and values of Rotaract. They ensure that decisions are made transparently and in the best interest of the club and its mission.
